I received my first email from Robert today! Since he's been putting in long, 15 hour days, our short phone conversations are usually followed by emails. I'm learning a lot about some of the soldiers in his unit and have been really encouraged to start praying for these men/women by name. Many of these soldiers are confiding in Robert and opening themselves up to share their lives with him. He told me of one instance where he was able to let one soldier borrow his i-pod and this man since been encouraged by hearing songs of the David Crowder Band. But, many of these guys come from broken family situations and receive little if any support from their families.
I'm praying about starting an "Adopt-A-Soldier" ministry in which our family, friends and church can be matched up to a soldier in Robert's unit to pray and send letters/care packages.
"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40
